For more than 80 years, the Library of Congress has celebrated the extraordinary craftsmanship of Antonio Stradivari with an annual concert highlighting our “Strads,” the gift of Gertrude Clarke Whittall. These glorious instruments have been used in Library concerts by a long roster of memorable players, documented in our extensive concert recording archives. Sample just a tantalizing few of these, from a very rare wartime video recording of the Budapest Quartet filmed in 1944 to excerpts of stunning recent concerts by some of the world’s finest quartets—along with conversations with several Stradivari scholars.

This concert is part of our (Re)Hearing Beethoven Festival. Be sure to check out the full range of events!

All events for the 2020-2021 season of Concerts from the Library of Congress will be presented virtually.
